The Center for Disease Control (CDC) continues to encourage Americans to practice social distancing and wear face coverings.

“It is critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus. CDC is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others,” the CDC said in a statement on its website.

You should also wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap and water. However, if you don’t have soap available, you can use hand sanitizer as long as it contains at least 60% alcohol.

Disinfect All of Your Belongings

In addition to following the safety precautions mentioned above, it’s also important to disinfect your belongings and clean your items (especially commonly touched ones like doorknobs, faucets, boxes, handles, and etc.) post moving.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a list of cleaners that the organization has “qualified for use against COVID-19.” These cleaners include Lysol, Clorox, and Purell. If you don’t have any of these products on hand, however, don’t fret. “Disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective,” the CDC said in a on its website.

To avoid any cross-contamination, we also recommend buying new storage boxes and moving supplies. The coronavirus can reportedly live on cardboard for up to 24 hours. If you are looking for safe and affordable storage options to keep your items organized, we also offer brand-new moving supplies available for purchase.
