If you’re considering keeping a television in one of our units, however, there are a few things you need to do to make sure it doesn’t get damaged.
1. Take a Picture of the Cords
Before you unplug your TV, take a picture of where all the chords go. Then, print the picture out, put it in an envelope, and tape it to the back of the device. This way, when you want to set your television back up, you know exactly how to. You can even take it a step further and label each cord.
2. Clean the TV
Clean the screen with tech-safe wipes and use canned air to remove dust from the back vents. Then, wipe everything down with a microfiber cloth. Remove any legs or stands, and remove the batteries from the remotes.
3. Pack It In a Box
The best way to pack any television away is in the original box and packaging. It’s made to keep the TV safe without damaging the screen. So, if you have it, use it.
If you don’t, you can purchase a television moving box with padded corners and handles. However, you’ll also want to get some bubble wrap and packing tape. Start by wrapping the screen with at least two layers of bubble wrap. Secure it with packing tape, but make sure not to put any tape on the screen.
Then, wrap the corners in bubble wrap and secure with more tape. Finally, slide it into the box so it’s snug, and get ready to move it.
4. Store It Upright
It might seem like you’d want to store a flat screen on its back, screen side up. But, flat screens aren’t meant to lay like that. They don’t have enough internal support, and doing so could damage them.
So, you want to make sure you store it upright between two sturdy objects. You can use pillows or blankets to add cushioning in between, but make sure it’s packed tight enough that it won’t move, but not so much that it will get crushed by any load shifts while driving. It’s also best to keep it off the floor if possible, to avoid any extreme temperature changes or moisture.
When In Doubt, Use More Bubble Wrap

Of course, if you’re worried about anything like a television or computer monitor getting damaged, pack it with plenty of bubble wrap for cushioning. The bubble wrap will also keep it from getting scratched.
